OBJECTIVES

. Understanding of  ofthe principles of modern plant breeding, including molecular, genomic, phenomic and biotechnological techniques.

· Knowledge the different classic selection and breeding processes and criteria to evaluate their advantages and disadvantages, considering the cultivated species, the objectives of breeding, the environmental conditions and the socio-economic reality.

· Ability to integrate in a breeding programme the conventional and most recent techniques that contribute to greater efficiency in the selection processes and in the development of new varieties.

· Ability to design breeding programs for a specific species, for the specific conditions of a country or region according to specific objectives.

· Experience in planning and development of initial research projects in the field of plant breeding, working independently under the supervision of a tutor, whose results may be potentially publishable.

· Mastery of scientific and technical information related to the research carried out, the use of relevant techniques and methodologies in this research and ability to objectively evaluate the significance of its results and conclusions.

· Skills to communicate the reasoning and conclusions of tutored work carried out individually or in groups, to prepare informative or summary documents, and to prepare and present oral communications that must be presented and defended before an audience.

· Skills and attitudes for multidisciplinary and intercultural team work.
